PROJECT FUNDS

At Village of the Stars, each of our project funds exists to meet specific, heartfelt needs within the adoption and special needs communities. Whether you're called to help in moments of crisis, celebrate milestones, or support children with medical or developmental needs, your generosity makes a tangible and lasting impact.

General Fund
(Non-Designated)

Gifts to the General Fund are not earmarked for a specific project but are vital in supporting our mission wherever needs arise. These flexible donations allow us to respond quickly, allocate resources strategically, and meet unexpected or emerging challenges throughout the year.

At the end of each year, we thoughtfully allocate a portion of the General Fund to specific project funds based on the anticipated needs of the coming year. Your trust in us to steward these resources wisely enables us to make timely and impactful decisions in service of adoptive families and their children.

We are deeply grateful for your confidence and partnership.

Heritage Connection Fund

This fund helps Chinese adoptees reconnect with their cultural roots through language classes, festival celebrations, and cultural activities. By nurturing cultural understanding and pride, the program empowers adoptees to embrace their identity, navigate identity-related challenges, and form deeper connections with their heritage.

s_financial.png

Financial Independence Fund

This fund empowers adoptive families by helping them launch work-from-home initiatives and small business ventures. By fostering entrepreneurship, we not only address immediate financial needs but also build long-term stability and self-sufficiency. The fund also supports families in preparing their children with special needs for a future where they can earn an income and live with dignity outside of traditional employment models.

Little Star Fund

Autism Support

The Little Star Fund supports adoptees with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) by providing financial aid for therapy, specialized care, and supportive services. We work to raise awareness, offer emotional support, and build inclusive communities. Through advocacy and empowerment, we help autistic children and their families navigate challenges and discover their unique potential.

Emergency Assistance Fund

This fund offers immediate financial relief to families facing unexpected crises such as bereavement, hospitalization, natural disasters, urgent home repairs, and the replacement of essential household items. Our goal is to provide timely support during moments of hardship—restoring stability, offering comfort, and bringing peace of mind. It also serves as a tangible expression of encouragement during times of emotional and physical strain.

Daniel Fund

International Orphan Aid

The Daniel Fund supports urgent orphan care, rescue efforts, and preventative measures to reduce the number of children at risk of abandonment. We partner with trusted organizations—such as Open Hearts for Orphans (OHFO)—who are making tangible impacts globally.

This fund is named in memory of Daniel, the beloved son of adoptive mother Lisa Murphy, who passed away after open-heart surgery. Daniel’s story was one of the inspirations behind the founding of Village of the Stars.

Smiles Fund

Oral/Maxillofacial Surgeries

The Smiles Fund provides financial assistance for children in need of oral and maxillofacial surgeries—critical procedures often categorized as cosmetic or dental and therefore excluded from insurance coverage. These surgeries are essential not just for physical health, but also for emotional well-being and confidence. Early intervention helps prevent long-term complications and gives children a brighter, healthier future.

China Bethel Fund

Blind Children Support

With the closure of China’s international adoption program, the need for domestic care of orphans—especially children with disabilities—is growing. This fund allows us to partner with trusted local organizations such as Bethel China, a nonprofit founded in 2003 that provides early intervention, education, and vocational training for blind and visually impaired children. Bethel’s mission is to help these children live full, independent lives and take their place in society with confidence and dignity.

s_celebration.png

Celebration Fund

The Celebration Fund brings joy and a sense of belonging to adopted children and their families through meaningful gifts and gift cards for special milestones—including birthdays, Gotcha Days, Christmas, Chinese New Year, graduations, and weddings. These gestures remind families that they are seen, cherished, and embraced by a wider community with love and appreciation.

A signature program of this fund is the Christmas Wishlist, where selected families share their stories and create Amazon wishlists. These are shared with readers, who can directly fulfill gift requests. The program not only meets real needs and uplifts families, but also builds awareness and generosity within the Chinese community—fostering a deeper culture of connection and compassion.

s_education.png

Education & Training Fund

This fund provides scholarships and bursaries to Chinese adoptees—supporting both academic and vocational pathways. We assist students from financially challenged families, award merit-based scholarships, and fund vocational training programs for those not pursuing college degrees. For many adoptees facing disabilities and systemic barriers, this support opens doors to independence, career development, and a future filled with hope.

s_annya.png

Annya Fund

Down Syndrome Support

This fund is dedicated to supporting children with Down syndrome and their families through financial aid, community celebration, and advocacy. It honors the memory of Annya, a little girl with Down syndrome whose short life radiated love for Jesus. Many of the families we serve are raising children with Down syndrome, and this fund provides encouragement, inclusion, and resources to help them thrive in every aspect of life.
